Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Kevin Maher Times (UK) A committed central performance and a controversial subject...mostly left unexplored in cinema, as it is in life, are the two main reasons to see this earnest, if slightly overlong melodrama. Rated: 3/5 Jul 13, 2018 Full Review Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Cath Clarke Guardian At two hours, the film feels a little long, but this is a heartfelt and human drama with the texture of truth and characters to care about. Rated: 3/5 Jul 11, 2018 Full Review Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Boyd van Hoeij The Hollywood Reporter Familiar but moving. May 31, 2018 Full Review Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Michael Cuby them. Though [it] still hits predictable topics — the closet, casual locker room homophobia, the threat of lost sponsorships should their secret emerge — it’s equally invested in developing its central love story, which is rare. Nov 16, 2022 Full Review Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Ben Turner The Pink Lens This is a great film about sexuality in football, and is a darned slight better than The Pass. Rated: 4/5 Sep 1, 2021 Full Review Mario | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Andrew Murray The Upcoming Simultaneously serving as a touching romantic drama and a critical exploration of masculinity within football, Mario is a poignant work of contemporary cinema. Philip W Way too unreal and long and angst-ridden. The script seemed dumbed-down to make it formulaic. Not that we have to love the villain, it would be nice if we could at least respect him a little. The acting was okay. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Audience Member "Totally unpleasant, a disgusting movie (another work of progressivism)." 🤢🤢🤮 Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review Jeff M My goal to watch more foreign films this year brought me across this award-winning Swiss movie, about which I knew absolutely nothing but which turned out to be one of the best viewing surprises I've had in awhile. Even if you can't relate specifically to the topic at hand, I think all of us can relate to the joy, the pain, and sometimes the repercussions of falling in love. The acting by the leads feels heartbreakingly real, the sports world portrayed feels true to life, and the surrounding supporting characters feel very three-dimensional even with limited screen time. Highly recommended! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review PridePosterStudios A brutally honest look into the homophobia that plagues the world of football. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Terrance M Just not a good movie Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/23 Full Review Liam D It's an very engaging and moving romance with some great acting Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/22 Full Review Read all reviews
